"I joined the club in the fall of 2003.  At that time I had lived in Macomb County for 6 years after moving here from Chicago.  My primary reason for joining was to participate in the playgroup - my daughter was 2-1/2, and I needed some adult company and camaraderie!  Since then, I have made many friends and continue to enjoy all that the club has to offer.  I would recommend it to anyone looking to meet new people and get out of the house occasionally!" "Newcomers has turned out to be a great gift in my life.  This organization has opened many doors for me.  Meeting great new friends and experiencing many fun and exciting opportunities.  Being new in town without many friends can be very hard.  I found that the only options for me were work, school or my husband's co-workers.  In these three areas, people are usually very busy, and don't have much time to go out.  Newcomers has a lot of people who are in the same situation as myself which makes moving to a new town a lot easier and not as lonely.  You can be assured that being in Newcomers is a very pleasing and fun experience." I joined Newcomers because I moved away from my family and friends in Wisconsin. I had 2 small children and didn't know anyone here in Michigan.  Newcomers gave me the chance to have adult conversations and for my kids the FamilyFun with other kids was awesome.  My husband and I enjoyed and still do enjoy the Gourmets.  There is so much to do within Newcomers, it helps to fill the void when in a new area. "I joined Newcomers because I had moved from Canada to Macomb County and knew no one.  My twins were 6 months old, and my oldest had just started school.  I needed adults to talk to and a social group for my children to meet other children.  Newcomers became a wonderful way to meet other mothers and other like-minded adults.  My husband has also been able to form friendships.  I would definitely recommend it for anyone new to the area or for anyone who wants to make new friends."
